Get To Know The Attorney

B.A., University of Louisville, Critical Legal Studies, cum laude 2004 | M.A., University of Louisville, Pan-African Studies, Dean's Citation 2006 | J.D., Georgetown Law Center, 2009 | In progress, Ph.D., all but dissertation University of Louisville, Urban and Public Affairs, policy and administration concentration

Elizabeth Jones Esq.

Compassionate, ambitious and fiery are a few of the adjectives we’d use to describe this Louisville native attorney. Liz, short version of Elizabeth, has been kicking her way through the justice system fighting for victims of inequality. From being a public defender in New Orleans, the incarceration capital of the industrialized world, to working on the policy side of the law at the International Trade Commission, United States Institute of Peace, and Center for Children’s Law and Policy; Ms. Jones’ legal background is as eclectic and varied as her interests and hobbies.

When she’s not working, she’s probably dancing, or watching sports- Go Cards! Her musical loves include everything from Frankie Beverly and Maze to Fleetwood Mac, from Parliament to Outkast, from Boosie to Beethoven. She also teaches classes on Race, Ethnicity, & the Law as an Endowed Chair in the Pan African Studies Department at the University of Louisville all the while, pioneering a virtual law firm and spreading cultural awareness in the community through her activism. A hipster at heart, Ms. Jones delights in the simple things: plants (lots of them, her motto is you can never have too many), biking, burying her nose in a good book, and her beloved dog Ms. Aurora, aka the Sleeping Beauty.

This around the way girl will be the first to admit that she has (and I quote) “always been so strange.” You’ll find this rebel going green by riding the TARC armed with one of her many canvas bags. Ms. Jones’ love for constantly challenging the status quo and building people power has found its way into her current law practice. Liz relishes in assisting people in achieving their vision for economic empowerment and social justice through forming cooperatives, nonprofits, social enterprises, and startups.

"Elizabeth Jones Esq. was able to sit me down and guide me through all the nuances of starting a small business the right way. At first sight I was doing a lot of things just by doing google research but that in itself was time consuming because there is so much information out there that can be overwhelming. Elizabeth sat me down set a schedule of due dates for me to respond back with things on the to do list dictated from business name, state registration and even logo. She was very instrumental in introducing me to community leaders to assist in my progression as well. Overall her services are the reason I am going strong to date."

Mrs. Brook Blair

"Elizabeth Jones was very professional and efficient while representing us.  She helped the procedure go very smoothly, and made us feel confident that she is well-versed in the law. From your first conversation with Elizabeth, you immediately become aware of her integrity and commitment, and moreover, the passion she exudes for her work. Any concern I raised was immediately addressed. Phone calls were answered in a timely manner. Information I requested about the process was promptly forwarded.   We would highly recommend Ms. Jones as a representative of your legal needs. "

Sit, Stay, & Play! Doggie Daycare

Sit, Stay, & Play offers a free-range dog daycare with three rooms to separate dogs of different size and disposition.  The daycare service focuses on socializing dogs and training them to have good manners, which means  that dogs are taken outside to potty frequently, walked, played with and routinely trained not to jump, excessively bark, play too roughly, walk nicely on a leash, and "sit, stay, break" before going in and out.

"I highly recommend Elizabeth at E. Jones Law & Policy for a start-up business or for a business expanding from start-up to their next level. Flexible schedule, competitive rate, great communication skills (good at breaking down lawyer lingo!) and very easy to talk to. Elizabeth brought in her connections to help with a field that was unfamiliar with and helped my valuate my business.
I have been planning on expanding my business for about two years now and she was there for me 100% of the time. She even stuck by my side and gave me advice after my plans fell through on a previous transaction and was fair with her pricing in doing so.
My pet peeve is paying someone for work that does not stick to their own timeline; she always had what I needed finished when she said it would be. She even recommended me to an acquaintance when she knew that she would not have the time to devote to my real estate transaction...she even introduced us and took time out of her busy schedule to get everyone on the same page.
...oh and she fixes a great cup of coffee
